The Event - SOS Spirit Festival

On August 6, 2011 Stockton, California will set its sails at the Weber Point Event Center. The church of Stockton, it’s ministries, organizations and some of the area's greatest entertainers are uniting to throw an unparalleled completely free event called the SOS Spirit Festival.  Scheduled from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.   The Spirit Festival celebrates the spirit of this great city and its residents and shows the rest of the nation that Stockton is definitely not the most miserable place to live.

The SOS Spirit Festival caps a season of serving and follows up on SOS (Serve Our Stockton) Day. On that day, Stockton's Christian churches mobilize their congregations to reach out to the community and serve it as one body with the love of Christ. As many as 2,000 orange-shirted volunteers will canvass the city washing fire trucks, planting flowers, picking up trash, visiting the elderly and performing other acts of service with the belief that no act is too small to make a difference and that ordinary people acting in concert, can transform a city.

The Spirit Festival features concerts by some of the area's most talented Christian entertainers, spanning genres from blues to contemporary to rock and rap. A number of family-friendly shows and activities like a strongman demonstration by the highly acclaimed athlete of Radical Reality, Dean Johnson,  a jumpy house and romps through the Events Center's play fountain will keep kids from age two to seventy-two happily engaged.

Everyone is welcome at the Spirit Festival. In keeping with the spirit of love and service of SOS Day, all entertainment, food and the wide array of family-friendly activities is free to all visitors.  If visitors would like to participate in Serve Our Stockton Day, bring your recyclables to the Festival. We will be collection recyclables; (plastic, glass and cans) with all proceeds going to the Gospel Rescue Mission.

So pack your picnic blanket and beach chairs and join us at the 2011 SOS Spirit Festival. Don't forget your sunscreen!
